4/3x + 3 = -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/3x = -8 ==> -24x = 4 ==> x = -4/24 = -1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, i have a problem with double = signs...can you be more detailed? for example 4/3x=-8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/3x = -8 therefor: -24x = 4 therefor: x= -4/24 Finally: x = -1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so am I subtracting 3 from each side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you're multiplying each side by 3x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, I am trying to get the way to do it. first, multiply each side by 3x, then what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first move the 3 to the other side of equation. then multiply both sides by 3x Then find x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when i did that, the threes cancel out and the 4x is left on the left side and -5 x3x = 15x on the right side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks, I'll get some more help from school.
