This uses basic trigonometry. From the very top of the flagpole to the ground (From A to ground) = x From B to ground = y tan(60) = √3 = x/16 x=16√3 tan(45) = 1 = y/16 y=16 AB=x-y = 16√3-16= approximately 11.7 So 12.
