find the odds of getting a 4 or a 5 on a six sided number cube.
Odds of getting a 4 ----> 1/6 Odds of getting a 5 ------> 1/6 If we use the word OR, then probabilities add. \(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow {1 \over 6} + {1 \over 6} }\) \(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow {2 \over 6} }\) \(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow {1 \over 3} }\)
isnt the odd 1:5? because 5 of the numbers are faliures meaning they wont be chosen?
No!
Odds=probability
Odds in favor of 4 or 5 is the following: 2 to 4 or 1 to 2 or 1/2. Odds and probability are not the same. Please read the attachment.
Favorables: 4, 5 --> total of two Unfavorables: 1, 2, 3, 6 --> total of four
OH!
Thanks for correcting..
im right because it says in my book that its the number of successes to failures. 1 success, and 5 failures
im soo tired, at thist point im gona take ur words for it
There are two ways to be successful -- toss a 4, toss a 5 There are four ways to be unsuccessful -- toss a 1, toss a 2, toss a 2, toss a 6. So, 2 to 4 or 1 to 2.
im confused !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@abie908 Tell me, when will we be successful in this case?
lol i finished :)
@ParthKohli >Tell me, when will we be successful in this case? If you stay with your current answer, the probability of success is zero.
