why are capillaries and alveolies packed together

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hint: think about the purposes of both structures. What do capillaries transport? What are alveoli filled with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

capillaries transport blood, im not sure what alveoli do? thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know where alveoli are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not really sure...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They're tiny air sacks in the lungs. Now... what does blood transport?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

blood transports oxygen to the rest of the body ... and cells to fix injuries...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh, do the alveoli give air to the capillaries which send blood to the body, using the oxygen from the alveoli?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep. Alveoli are sites of gas exchange. They also take the carbon dioxide out of the blood so it can be breathed out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh, thanks...u really helped me for my science test.... thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem!
