can someone help to find the general formula for PI

I suppose you could draw a regular polygon (starting with a triangle) that touches a circle, then change it to a square, then pentagon etc until you get close to infinity sides and then you compare the perimeter of this shape with the radius of the circle and divide the perimeter by 2*radius and you have pi.
