How do you find range of a function?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

if i remember right...you solve for x

OpenStudy (kainui):

The range is all the possible number y could be. Since y is based on x, it depends on what x can or can't be. So if you have something like y=1/x you know you can't plug in 0. Same kind of thing for square roots, since you can't take the square root of a negative number.

Can you find the range for this : y=-5√(8-4x)+6
