Is 6.189, Gentle Intro to Programming with Python, now redundant with 6.00 or still helpful to use in parallel?
It looks as though there's a LOT of overlap between the two classes. If you want a few more exercises to hone your Python with, yeah, it'd be helpful to use in parallel. I wouldn't be bothered myself. After finishing 6.00, I'd move on to other courses or projects - www.pythonchallenge.com - is pretty fun and entertaining.
I don't really think that programming courses do become redundant especially these (there is a considerable emphasis on computer science per se rather than programming for programming's sake).
Redundant not as in "useless", but as in there is so much overlap with 6.00 from what I have seen so far.
An upgrade so to speak :-)
