The figure shows a pattern of a regular octagon and squares. Which of the following describes a method to find the measure of angle x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two times the measure of the interior angle of the octagon plus the interior angle of a square is 360. x = (360° – 90°) ÷ 2. The side of the octagon extends to form the diagonal of the square. The exterior angle of the octagon is 90° ÷ 2 = 45°. x = 360°- 45°. Extend the side of the octagon to get the diagonal of the square. The exterior angle plus two times the interior angle of a square is 360. x =360° – 180°. The sum of the measures of the angles at the vertex is 2x plus the interior angle of the square. x = 360° – 90°.

its an octagon with 8 equal sides x is interior angle there is formula to determine sum of interior angles of polygon --> S = 180(n-2) n=8 --> S = 1080 divide by 8 --> x = 135

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

haha or you can do it like part A ...different method same answer

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

i hate multiple choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so the answer is A? cuz ive been trying to figure it out based on your answer

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yeah its A |dw:1337199883699:dw|
