Solution How many people can finish first? 8 How many people can finish second? 7 (A person cannot be first and second at the same time) How many people can finish third? 6 How many people can finish fourth? 5 8*7*6*5=1680 another solution Pick four contestants that will finish first to fourth. (8C4) Then, order them. (4!) Solution using Permutation 8P4=8*7*6*5
