three consecutive odd integers have a sum of -87. Find the integers.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Set the middle integer to x then, (x-2)+(x)+(x+2)=-87

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The integers are x, x+2, and x+4 x + x+2+x+4= -87

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

after you find x (which is the middle integer), you'll want to resubstitute x-2 for the third, x+2 for the first.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

@Mertsj 's way works too, but my way will be faster and easier to do, because +2 and -2 cancel out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool thanks both ways are good but @inkyvoyd i agree it is faster.
