How many solutions does tan^-1 3 have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one, since \(\tan^{-1}(x)\) is a well defined function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aren't there two quadrants that it could be in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes arctan has range of \([-\frac{\pi}{2},\frac{\pi}{2}]\) but there will only be one output for each input
