Annual profit in thousands of dollars is given by function, P(x)= -.1x^2 + 50x -300 , where x is the number of items sold
Turing point = (250, 5950) so, 250*100 = $250,000
What does the -.1 represent.?
-0.1x^2
.1 is the numer of items sold squared. .1x I meant
No! that's a quadratic equation..
Its a weird question. What does .1 mean to the profot of the company. I was thinking that .1x is the number of items sold... Oh I know its a quadratic equation.... just dont know how to describe the .1 in terms of its relation to the who equation
And thanks for the quick answer.
We can't only judge things with the first term. we always have a series of values when we have a quadratic equation. So here is the WHOLE equation, -.1x^2 + 50x -300 It has two values of x. so u can't only judge with the first one. Welcome. :)
This is the actual question thats getting me. 1.describe the meaning of the number -.1 in the formula, in terms of its meaning in relation to the profit.
@Callisto @.Sam.
Is the professor asking a tactile question or is he asking what the definition of the term is as it related to the equation?
annual profit means you find the total?
Yes. Then hes asking us to break down each of the elements (terms) of the quadratic equation. -.1 means what exactly. Is it a multiplier? Se -.1x is the number of items sold in the scenario, but he gave us that answer. So must mean to define what mathmatical meaning -.1 hold in the eqution.
-.1 is -0.1 , I think
Yes it is. Find the value of x rounfed to the nearest tenth sounds good. Addy put it our there.
