i know! :/ i hate it!

if the shape is regular then split it into x amount of triangles and find the area of a triangle and add all the triangles to find area of the shape

Directrix (directrix):

Column A A = 1/2 * a* p where a is the apothem and p is the perimeter of the regular octagon. A regular octagon has 8 sides that are the same length. So, the perimeter is 8*4 = 32. A = 1/2 * 4 * (4*8) A = 2*32 = 64 Column B A = 1/2 * a* p where a is the apothem and p is the perimeter of the regular hexagon. A regular hexagon has 6 sides that are the same length. So, the perimeter is 6*4 = 24. A = 1/2 * 4 * (4*6) A = 48 So, the answer in Column A is all the time larger than the answer in Column B. Hence, A is the answer. But, L@@K, there's no need to do all that work. Look at the regular octagon equation: A = 1/2 * 4 * (4*8) Look at the regular hexagon equation: A = 1/2 * 4 * (4*6) They differ by one number. (4*8) versus (4*6) The 8 in the formula for Column A is bigger than the 6 in the formula for Column B so without doing any calculations, we know that Column A or A is the answer.

okay, thank you so much! :)

Glad to help. Be sure you read the L@@k section.
