I think another part of the definition involves doing a large number of repetitive actions yeah? Such as batch processing photos by applying the same filter, or batch renaming a bunch of files according to some algorithm.

Large scale computing jobs, such as when everybody's paycheck or credit card bill is computed and printed out, are typically batch jobs.
