it takes a man 30 days to do a work if he doubles his work every day. how long it would takes if 2 men collaborate to do the same work in the same way??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by doubling the work, do you mean the rate of work done or the work to be done?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the rate of work done

OpenStudy (radar):

I wonder about this question. If he doubles his work rate, at the end of the first day he would have 28 days left, now i am wondering about his work rate for the second day does he doubles his work rate again? i.e. does he do 4 days worth of work on 2nd day or is it 2 days worth, or you doubling every day? Or is it a the doubled rate for the remaining days. I would reject this questions due to the ambiguity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in day 1 let's say that he build 1floor than in the second day he will build 2 floors; did i make it clear enough?

OpenStudy (radar):

How many floors did he build on the 3rd day, did his rate double again?

OpenStudy (radar):

See my post 3rd one above this post.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3rd day he build 4 floors

OpenStudy (radar):

O.K. First day He has 29 days of work left 2nd day he has 27 days left 3rd day he has 23 days left 4th day he has 15 days left. this is far as it goes, his partner has done the rest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't think that i explain to u very well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's assume that wa want to build smthing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we bring a man to do the work. in day 1 he build 1 floor the second 2 floor the third 4 floor...... he finished the word in 30 days

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now if we had brought 2 men not just 1 to build the same building and each one of them double his rate everyday. how long it will take them to finish??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please dont give up i'l feel gulty

OpenStudy (radar):

Well that is what I did, when he had accomplished 15 days worth of work with the acellerated rates He and his coworker did this in four days.

OpenStudy (radar):

Really I think it is a trivial question, but then again, a lot of em are.

OpenStudy (radar):

Note that at the end of the fourth day, they had accomplished 30 days of work based on the original premise. I didn't give up, I finished the problem. It is outlined on a day by day accounting.
