All three of them bought pasta, noodles, and split peas. •Hannah bought 3 packs of pasta, 10 packs of noodles, and 2 packs of split peas. •Yu bought 5 packs of pasta, 12 packs of noodles, and 1 pack of split peas. •Becky bought 3 packs of pasta, 15 packs of noodles, and 2 packs of split peas. How much was each item? Hannah, Yu, and Becky spent $8.41, $9.42, and $9.66 respectively on these items.

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

If a = unit cost of pasta b = unit cost of noodles c = unit cost of split peas then we need to write an equation for how much each person bought and how much they paid. Hannah bought 3 pasta, 10 noodles, and 2 split peas. and spent 8.41 3a+10b+2c=8.41 You have to do this for all three people. You will have three equations and three unknowns and should be able to solve for all three.
