describe what would be a persuasive appeal to Dr. King's "i have a dream" speech. i understand what a persuasive appeal is, i've done a essay on it BUT i don't know exactly what to put down as the best response or this question. I've tried looking for a reasonable one to get the most credit to make my English grade a A. help!!? :(
Well I don't want to do your work for you so I'll just get you started off: Read the speech or watch it on youtube and think about it. Are you convinced by it? why? What language is he using? Is he repeating certain words or phrases?
so, pretty much tell what convinced me to believe him?
Yes :)
Dr. King uses severall appeals in his "I have a dream" speech. The first appeal is hasty generalization, when he says that "all men are created equal." He is generalizing all men, who fought to be individuals. The second appeal he uses is counterargument, when he says that "america has not made good on the unpaid check." He is going against the argument that we have to pay the government, which so many blacks and whites fought to avoid. This is how Dr. King uses appeals in his speech.
