in the cyclotron, why the frequency is independent to the radius is a practical advantage of the cyclotron?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just think- you need to switch the polarity of the voltage, which is independent of the radius.now all u need is a ac voltage of desired frequency...else u ud have to change the frequency of ac voltage also, which would have been a real headache..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I really dont understand what you said.:d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k i will break it up... now..the velocity of electron will increase in a cyclotron...now where is this extra kinetic energy coming from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

electric field between the dees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly.now can u recall that this electric field will need to be switched to opposite direction after every half circle rotation of the electron? (after each entry through a single dee)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what will it do with the frequency?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now we cant just change the electric field anyway we like can we...we have to do it such that it always increase the speed of electron and not decelerate it..|dw:1337317665214:dw| at a the E field should be towards right but at bottom it should be toward left to push electron along its direction of motion.agreed?
