As x increases y decreases. Therefore the slope is negative. Each unit increase in the value of x results in the value of y decreasing by 1/2. Therefore the missing value of y is (-3/2 - 1/2) = -2 The values of the table form a negatively correlated straight line. When a "line of best fit" joins the points the slope is negative.
