Why is it important to use a democratic method of choosing someone for a position of authority?

So, that the correct representative of the people gets elected to head the people - so that a person who is thought to be capable enough to rule over people and take the correct decisions may be representative of the people - ofcourse not any layman can be a correct person - also not necessarily that the son or daughter of the previous king will be good ruler - like it happens in a monarchy. So, democracy is the best form of government - of the people, for the people, and by the people.
