If the perimeter of a square is 64 miles, what is its area?

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

perimeter of square = 4 * length of side

OpenStudy (jkristia):

P = 4 × length A = length ^ 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So find the length of the sides: \[P = 4 \times length\] \[64 = 4 \times length\] and then square the length of one side since as @jkrista says: \[A= length \times width = length^2\]
