Should I use sh, csh, or tcsh? What are the differences, quirks, and stuff to watch out for when working with these shells? How do they compare to bash in terms of features and user-friendliness?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nah, bash = extended sh, sh is outdated. csh and tcsh are not commonly used any more. most scripts will be written for bash nowadays. shells are not that exciting, but a lot of times bash will have autocompletion for the filesystem and various programs (like if you have a directory called "directory", then you write "dir" and hit the tab button, bash will extend it to "directory")
