multiply and divide or just multiply thats my question Samantha needs to purchase three different cakes for an upcoming event. The bakery has 20 different cakes from which she can choose. How many different ways can she choose the cakes for the event?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Each cake has a 1/20 chance of being one of her choices. Since she can get 3 cakes and she can get 3 different ones or 3 of the same, there are 1/(20^3) combinations she can pick from.

= 1140
