lgb is right, number of medals does not matter. You can see there are three subdivisions in your profile(teamwork, problem solving and engagement). All the three play a role in increasing your level. You can increase your teamwork score by helping people(and perhaps having many fans). You can improve engagement score by asking many questions and interacting with others to understand the answer. Problem solving score can be increased by your efficiency of answering questions(and by also getting medals from the asker himself or herself). So medals alone don't contribute to raising your level.

Rohan—SmartScore is relative, amongst other things, and it's curved so that it's easiest to progress the first 50-60 points and then it becomes harder. Amongst other things, imagine that Satellite73 has 10 thousand medals. So reaching that level will be very difficult. We try to make the levels in between easier to progress between (for example, amistre64, who is right behind satellite, “only” has 6900).

In addition, as pratu and lgbasallote mentioned, SmartScore does not only rely on medals. It also relies on activity, for example. Getting a medal from an asker or a high ranking member is better than getting a medal from someone else. Etc.

I think shadow means that getting a medal from a user say above level 65 will help you raise your level more than getting a medal from a user below 60.

lol it seems @pratu043 misunderstood me...by no answers i meant explanations only...a lot of people post solutions but with answers which is sometimes worthless...i dont medal thos responses...i just medal those who give solutions and let the asker finish

you just let time do its thing..be more interactive in the site would be a good advice...but unless you *really* know what it means...it wont go up drastically
