A circle has a radius of 20 centimeters. If 8/9 of the circle is cut away, what is the area of the remaining portion?using pi how do i solve

Well, the area of a circle is (pi)r² . So the total area of the circle is (pi)(20)² or 400(pi), then you are leaving 1/9 of the circle, so you multiply 400(pi) by 1/9 to get approximately 44.45 cm² as the area of the remaining portion.
