Factor x^2-9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

difference of squares Recall : a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in your case, a=x and b=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so i still don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you have x^2-9 then we can write it as (x)^2-(3)^2 so using that formula a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b), we get(x+3)(x-3)

ooohhhhh thanks sir
