"Her face was a map of her life" is a(n) ___ . a. simile b. allusion c. personification d. metaphor
You can first know how to answer this question by knowing what each of the answers mean. Do you know what a simile, allusion, personification and metaphor mean?
yes i think its either allusion or metaphor...
what do u think?
I know what the answer is. Why do you think its either one of those two? Think closely about what each of those words mean. What must specifically be stated (or happen w/i the context of the phrase) must happen?
I think its allusion because in metaphor, ur comparing two things... so i think its allusion am i right?
I believe it should be metaphor because there is no reference to places, events, books, or art... but that is just my opinion.
so why not allusion?
An allusion gives is when you reference places, events, books or art...so for example "I am no Prince Hamlet" is an allusion because you are comparing yourself to a literary work (aka book). Another example could be "Chocolate is my Achilles heal". Here you are comparing yourself to a character in a book.
i understand now, so here when u are saying face is map of her life, u are comparing a map to her life.... ?
basically, and that does not fall under the terms of which an allusion is defined.
ok thank u so metaphor it is.. :)
