How much water do seeds need to germinate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think the amount is fixed. Different seeds may need different amounts of water based on their nutritional requirements.

hmm about an average amount?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once a day? twice a day???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to germinate a seed only needs to be moist and you don't need to water the seed regularly for it to germinate as you do for a plant only once after it has germinated do you actually need to look into watering it. Plus if you're carrying out an experiment to check out the factors affecting germination then only moisten the cotton wool on which you will place your seeds and make sure the lab attendant/teacher/supervisor has made the seeds moist before giving them to you for the experiment or else they won't grow. :) hope this helps :)
