The equation of a parabola with a vertex at (0,0) and a focus at (0,6) would be 24y=x^2 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a sideways parabola, the y should be squared... just switch you x and y and you're good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so 24x =y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

getting easier huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! =D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lemme change the problem a bit.. what would happen if the focus was at (0, -6)? what would your equation be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be -24x=y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are just to awesome!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YAY!! =)
