if there is a planet which are surrounded by many big planet which are orbiting around it..this planet will be impacted or scattered? do you understand my question? sorry if my eng is bad :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

big bodies cant revolve around small..only small bodies revolve around big..of course you may say that this is frame dependent that which is revolving around which.but that point of view is true only when only one big body is revolving around a smaller one..the reason is the different order of inertial force but same mutual force of gravitation..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heavier planets cannot revolve around lighter planets. And if lighter planet revolves around heavier planet it will and it must get attracted to one another according to Newton's law of gravitation. Heavy planets cannot revolve around small planets because F is directly proportional to mass of the body according to the Newtons equation.[F=(G*m1*m2)/r^2]. Larger the mass greater will be the attractive power of the planet.

@Gautam.R :exactly..just that it is not about force being proportional to mass but that acceleration of a body is inversely proportional to mass of the body..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since the force acting on both small and large body is same..the light one will have higher acceleration and will go around the heavier one..

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

Let's say you have 2-3 giant planets revolving around each other ...... and a tiny planet stuck at their center of gravity ... it could be torn apart
