Which of these is a valid conclusion? A. All sergeants clear a fitness test. Harry has cleared a fitness test. Therefore, Harry is a sergeant. B. All sergeants clear a fitness test. Harry has not cleared a fitness test. Therefore, Harry is not a sergeant. C. All sergeants clear a fitness test. Harry is a sergeant. Therefore, Harry has not cleared a fitness test. D. All sergeants clear a fitness test. Harry is not a sergeant. Therefore, Harry has not cleared a fitness test.
should be B
B
Well, all squares are rectangle, but all rectangles are not squares. But if it's not a rectangle, it's definitely not a square. Similarly, all sergeants are fit, but all fit people are not sergeants. So, Harry inspite of clearing the fitness test, may or may not a sergeant. but if he hasn't cleared the fitness test, he DEFINITELY isn't a sergeant. So, should be 'B'. Can you 'feel' the analogy?
yeah now that i take a closer look B does make sense thank you everbody
