Snow cones! An image of an ice cream cone is shown below. The slant height of the cone itself is 3.5 inches, and the radius of the ice cream scoop on top is 0.75 inches. What is the approximate surface area of the entire ice cream cone with the scoop of ice cream? Answer 3.8π square inches 3.2π square inches 4.3π square inches 5.4π square inches

So figure out what equations youll need to use

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what solids are involved?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well to find the lateral area of a cone we use equation pi*r*s and for sphere it's 4 pi*r^2. Since there is only half a circle i guess we divide by 2 when we get the surface area of the half sphere?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that should work yup :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so after i get the LA of the cone and the SA of the half sphere now what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add em

OpenStudy (anonymous):

erm i get 11.775

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide by pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get 3.75pi with that I dont know if you rounded to get 11.775?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got the surface area of the half sphere then i got the answer if it was a whole sphere and divided it by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K hold on ill do both equations myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So pi*r*H

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the height of the cone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get that
