Hey everyone! So, I'm looking to talk to any users who use OpenStudy on mobile devices. How do you use it? In what ways is it more useful than desktop? In what ways less? Love to hear from everyone, thank you!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

my laptop is pretty mobile ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hehe, touche @amistre64 - mine on the other hand is an 8 pounder that sucks up battery so much I'm mobile for about four hours tops... You tried it on an Android or iOS yet?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i tried it on a zoom awhile back and it came across a bit clumsy and squished together, i havent had to borrow one from the library in quite some time tho so i wouldnt be able to comment on the recent updates

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Yeah I tried it on an Android Tablet few days back. I wasn't able to check messages or use chats, I could view questions but couldn't answer. But I must say it's a great beginning and I'm sure Open Study team will remove all these bugs very soon.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

The site keeps on loading and sleeping.. :D

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Takes ages to change topic.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great stuff here @amistre64 and @ash2326 - we'll definitely keep that in mind and keep looking into it. Thanks @saifoo.khan - gotcha

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well..it's more useful when im grounded and i have to go to openstudy secretly :S also when im just quick looking (i invent words..im sure you get the context)...desktops and laptops open slowly but mobiles dont

OpenStudy (blues):

I don't own a mobile device.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

a bike seems mobile enough.....

OpenStudy (freckles):

I'm using my iPhone right now. There is something blinking on here. It is not easier to reply to questions. Sometimes my typing doesn't show up. Like right now I see no black letters but it will show when I press post. Oh pressing post is not easier either.

OpenStudy (freckles):

I had to press post several times. That blinking stuff is annoying

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I had a few issues while using an android phone. In particular, when I zoomed out, it reverted to the normal view, and I had all the functions I needed (albeit very small, and difficult to poke at). However, when I zoomed back in, it was unable to go back to the standard mobile view. Not a huge issue, but it would be nice if we could go both ways, and not just one way.

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Great beginning!!

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

@ash2326 - That's very peculiar. What tablet are you using, and what version of Android? In particular, we only support Android 2.1+. I think @mattfeury has only done tablet testing in 4.0, but he would have to answer that. @saifoo.khan - Yeah, that's because we're running the full site on your device. We just hide a lot of things you couldn't see otherwise. Until we have a native or a hybrid native/web app - that's going to be a necessary evil unless we come up with something crafty. :\ @freckles - That sounds strange. What version of iOS are you running? @KingGeorge - That behavior is certainly not supposed to happen. You shouldn't be able to zoom out any farther on your Android phone. What version of Android are you on?

OpenStudy (freckles):

How do I find what version of iOS? I think it is the mathjax thingy that is blinking. Or was the strange thing the posting problem?

OpenStudy (freckles):

It only blinks when I try to type.

OpenStudy (freckles):

Or you know make a reply. whatever.

OpenStudy (freckles):

5.1 (9B179)

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

Hm. Alrighty. Filing the bug report.

myininaya (myininaya):

Is it possible that freckles isn't being patient enough with the posting problem?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

@farmdawgnation I'm using android 2.3.6 on a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. And it definitely lets me zoom freely.

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@farmdawgnation I ran it on Android ICS

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

@KingGeorge - so the deal is you should be able to zoom in but not out. I'll see if I can reproduce on my phone which is running 2.3.5, I believe. @ash2326 - What tablet are you running on? The version of the site you're presented with depends on your screen resolution. If your screen is smaller than a certain size you get the mobile version, which does not include DMs, chats, and a handful of other things. So, if your screen is within our target resolution for mobile, that's not really a bug.

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

@freckles - The original issue you reported here will be solved in our next deploy.

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

That is, the MathJAX message.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KingGeorge- I also have a Galaxy S2... are you using Open Study on the web browser or is there an app?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

There is no app for OS. This was on the web browser.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
