OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it possible that two organisms can be equally related to humans but not equally realated to one another

OpenStudy (merchandize):

1. I think this is possible because two organisms might have diverged from the human ancestor at about the same time in the past. So they are not related to each other, but they have about the same relationship with humans.

OpenStudy (blues):

I think merchandize is correct. Two organisms might have diverged from humans at roughly the same time, but much later from each other. For example, you'd expect two different species of Amazonian monkey to be quite closely related to each other - but both of them roughly equally related to humans.
