What is the volume of a square prism whose base edges are 3 meters and height is 10 meters? A. 300 m3 B.30 m3 C.90 m3 D.27 m3

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

find the area of the base and multiply by the height area of a square A = l^2 where l is the side length Volume of a Prism V = Base Area x height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kan u jes give the answa... idk ne of this mess

OpenStudy (amistre64):

this is a study group, so if you dont understand something; feel free to ask questions about.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i dont undastand none of this && ik dat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st is it 30?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

Area of the square is A = 3 x 3 = 9 Volume V = 9 x 10 = 90 units are metres cubed m3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. i thnk i was multiplying

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you were on the right track with it :) 3*10 = 30 , but with volume we have a 3rd number to deal with. |dw:1337546701142:dw| that base is spose to be square :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im lost..

OpenStudy (amistre64):

turn left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

waat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

turn left.. lol...its a joke.. well, the drawing amistre64 put should help you understand the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well...it dont... im jes as lost still

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as campbellst said, the volume of a prism is V=Base * Height or V= Lenght * width * height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the drawing @amistre64 put the base of the prism is a square and thus the base is the area of the square or Length * Width knowing that the sides are 3, could you tell me what the base is?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

without knowing what your lost on, its hard to come up with something that will help guide you. What is losing you? do you know what a square is? what a base is? what height is? what a side is? what an area is? without being aboe to read your mind, its hard to know what we have to work with ... you have to be more specific in what it is you are misunderstanding.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bt it dnt have the width

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ah, then its the square thing thats got you baffled

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, since its a square all sides are the same. so if they tell you that length or size of the

OpenStudy (anonymous):

base edges are 3, then all sides are 3. so both length and width are 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...yall sed.. V= Length * width * height bt it dnt have the width... so how do u knw wat it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o.. ok. thnxxx so will it b 27?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the base gives us the length and width the base is a square the length and width of a square are equal values the length of a square = 3, the width of a square = 3 the height of the prism is given as 10 length*width*height: 3*3*10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

90?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you got it!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im going to go with 90 yes ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnxx both of u
