Ok here it goes, an elipse has two foci to calculate the two foci we can use the equations \[\pm \sqrt{a^2-b^2}\]

that will allow you to find the distance between foci. Then you should calculate the x and y intercepts by making either x or y = 0 and then solving for the other. this will get you the shortest and longest distance across the elipse
