the bee orchid has flower petals that are fury and colored to resemble female bees, they attract male bees that wish to mate with the female bee imposters resulting in polination of the orchid flower how would the bee orchid flowers mimicry affect bee survival?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The male orchid bees pick up scents from the flowers which they later use to attract females for mating. Without the bee orchid flowers the males would not be able to attract females and therefore lower the chance to reproduce.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the male bee mistakes the flower as female bee and try to copulates with it(PSEUDO-COPULATION) . so the pollen grains get diposited on the male bess body... now, the male bee tries the same with another flower, and the pollen grains r transferd to the stigma... and pollination takes place.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as we know the male bees r not able to copulate much... they dies while doing so... bt pseudocopulation is a beauty of nature itself... so i feel that it would not be much responsible for bees death....(but the drone population decreases during this phase).
