Cold water: no one wants to swim
Large waves: People get worried and don't snorkle, scuba dive, or surf
Dirty water: No one swims

Oh and dirty whatever might affect the water supply so people would fall ill upon drinking the water if the water cleaning methods were poor

Those are all true, but in terms of serious economic impact I'd say that pollution in the ocean getting into the food chain and making sea food inedible should be high on the list as well.
