is one a prime number?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

no. A prime number has to be divisible by 1, AND itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes there is no other number you can multiply it by besides one and itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I am very confident 1 is not a prime number. Due to more technical details, much of math would fall apart if it was prime.
