QUESTION do you think that music downloading should be subject to litigation? In other words, should organizations and musicians like the IRAA and Metallica be able to sue individuals for downloading their music without paying for it?
I believe that once music is uploaded to the internet, it becomes the property of everyone using the internet. What the music companies are doing is uploading personal property to a place where millions of users have access to it, and expecting it not to be copied, stolen, or used in any way. If the music was uploaded to one place on the internet, with a strict inability to use the music before payment, and the music was used without payment then yes they should be able to sue. However, due to the fact that the scenario is impossible because of how vast the internet is, they cannot restrict the access to one place. This means that a fair number of people did not do anything wrong when they used the music because they did not get it from the original site. So in conclusion, no music downloading should not be subjected to ligation.
