Which is not a property of a rectangle? A The diagonals bisect the opposite angles. B Contains four right angles. C The diagonals are congruent. D Consecutive angles are supplementary.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should be A...only one i don' t understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont't understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking it was either A or D.

OpenStudy (blacksteel):

If A were true, it would mean that the diagonals divide the angles into two 45 degree angles. This is true of squares, but does not hold true for rectangles in general. (Try drawing a very long, thin rectangle and its diagonals and you will see that they do not divide the 90-degree angles in half). As such, you're right - the answer is A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep don't understand A

OpenStudy (blacksteel):

(Also, by definition, two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measurements is 180 degrees. Since rectangles have 4 90 degree angles, clearly the sum of any two consecutive ones is 180 degrees, so D is right)

OpenStudy (blacksteel):

*D is true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if I'm correct it is C
