what is sentence fragment?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A scentence fragment is a conjuncture of words that lack one or more of the basic parts needed to form a proper complete scentence.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a subject or a predicate is missing, or the verb doesn't apply to the noun. for example, what i just wrote was a fragment because the subject (the fragment I was describing) was missing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like she said, one of the main parts needed to form a scentence or comlete thought is missing, often making it confusing. Another example: walked to the store (who did?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fragments also don't have to be short, and just because a sentence is short doesn't mean its a fragment. for example, while "I went." is a short sentence, it has a subject and predicate so it's not a fragment. however, "the bright blue dress, flowy and long on the clothesline, made of brilliant silk that was soft to the touch" is a fragment because the action on the dress is never completed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When any sentence lacks subject, object and any complete thought is called as sentence fragment. for example:I love " the above sentence lacks object therefore here mistake in sentence"
