The figure below shows the top view of a circular room with a circular stage. The diameter of the stage is 24 feet. The shaded portion represents the seating for the audience around the stage. [Use π =22 over 7] What is the area of the seating portion? Answer 6067.63 ft2 6438.49 ft2 7262.71 ft2 7389.82 ft2
Figure please?
Oh, this is a fun problem! :-)
If you only want the part of the circle that's shaded, that's the 360-65 = 295 degree part.
And if the circle is 100 feet in diameter, then it's 50^2 times pi = 2500pi.
BUT - you need to subtract the stage for the outer circle. If the stage is 24 feet across, the radius is 12, so it's 144pi. 2500-144=2356 pi.
But now, we want 295/360 OF that, which is 295/360 * 2356pi = 1930.61111pi. Multiplying by 22/7, we have 6067.
=) thank-you for going through the process to show me =)
