mood is how the reader feels. i would pick a place that is naturally scary- like a cemetery or an abandoned house. then i would use words that describe the setting to make the reader feel like he is there.

pick a place first and go from there.. the prompt is asking you just to describe the place. so besides using eyesight (dark, shadows), you can also use the sense of touch (cold), and hearing (doors creaking, howling, owls, footsteps) (: maybe it would help to google a picture.
