STATISTICS/TECH QUESTION: For you users of Microsoft Word that use the "Equation" function or "Symbols": Do you know how to write the notation for the "mean"? I can't seem to get that "bar" on top of the "y"

HAve you tried using the Symbols? I don't use Microsoft Wor'ds Equation function much though.

You will use microsoft equation 3.0 to do this. 1. Click on the toolbar labeled "Insert". 2. Click on the button labeled "Object". 3. Scroll down to the option "Microsoft Equation 3.0" and double-click on it. 4.A text box should appear along with a floating toolbar with many symbols. This box should be labeled "Equation" on the top right corner. 5. Click on the sixth button over from the left on the bottom row. If you float your mouse over this button, it should say "Underbar and overbar templates". If you still can't find it, its picture is two boxes with dotted outlines; one of the boxes has a bar over it and one has a bar underneath it. 6.When you click, a drop-down menu will appear with many different templates. Click on the first one in the first column (top one in the left column). 7. When you do this, a template wil appear in the text box in the actual document. Type in an "x" and then click anywhere else in the document (click on the blank space, not the equation toolbar or the textbox with the x in it). 8. You should now have a x with a bar over it in you document. Source: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080127112318AAPB9US
