So I found the function that models the length of fencing in terms of x (the length of one side of the garden.)
100m²=xy
y=100/x
amount of fencing= 2x+ (200/x)

Now the question asks for the plot dimensions that require the minimum amount of fencing...

you need to find dy/dx and d2y/dx2 to find the answer.

I know you're right. I do not understand the dy/dx things. I guess my professor failed to go over this.
