Which of the following is true? -The base of a logarithmic function can be a negative number. -A logarithmic function is the inverse of an exponential function -The domain of the logarithmic function f(x) = log5x is all real numbers. -The range of the function f(x) = log5x is all real numbers less than zero.

What i'm really sure of is: A logarithmic function is the inverse of an exponential function

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well the bae of a log can be negative

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

oh wait no it cant lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't think so since it's domain is ]0,+oo[ !!

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i was thinking how -2^3 for example is -8 lol..forgot you'll need to divide by -1 before log-ing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for all of the help :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the last two lines shouldn't it be: log5x=log1 to determine the domain??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyway i think the other one that is true is: The domain of the logarithmic function f(x) = log5x is all real numbers.
