a diploid cell has 24 chromosomes. how many are there after meiosis. a) 6 b)12 c)24 d)48

OpenStudy (blues):

Cells can be either diploid or haploid. When they are haploid they have n (where n is a number) chromosomes and when they are diploid they have 2 x n chromosomes. Cells going into mitosis are diploid. Cells after mitosis are haploid. It gives you the diploid number and asks for the haploid number.

OpenStudy (blues):

* Cells after *meiosis* are haploid. My bad, sorry.
