Why doesn't distributive property apply in this case?

5((z+6)(z+2))

Do the inner most brackets get solved first? Is that why?

(z+6)(z+2) gets multiplied first so it's z^2 + 8z + 12 then 5(z^2 + 8z + 12)?

That is the only logic i can think of.

yes... remember order of oprations... do what's in the parenthesis first.
