compare the pH ranges of vinegar and a solution of water and baking soda. Do you think vinegar is an acid or a base? What about the baking soda?

Acids have a pH below 7, bases have a pH above 7, and 7 itself means neutral pH. As for what you think here are a few hints: acids taste sour and react with metals, while bases taste bitter and don't react with metals.
